Advanced machining of UV-masking in fused silica
Advanced glass machining
For a large Scandinavian company and global leader in the medical diagnostics sector we provide advanced glass machining. The customer is using UV-light as part of a critical diagnostics process. Parts of the sample cannot be exposed to UV-light and to solve the problem the samples are placed behind a fused silica glass plate, which has outstanding UV-transparent properties. Microbas then grinds the outer geometry to tolerances within a few hundreds of a millimetre and uses a ∅0.6 mm special tool to ultrasonic mill shallow, highly accurate pockets for UV-blocking fluids to mask the sample in the exact required position.
